INCREDIBLE German Model Railroad, Made in India!
Dare I say, Abendstern Nebenbahn is one of the FINEST Model Railroads of the 21st century! This incredible creation by Vikas Chander has the perfect balance of fine scale prototypical accuracy, all around artistry across many aspects of miniature art and technological sophistication that is extremely rare to see in any private model railroad, and even in many public displays.
Vikas' Abendstern Nebenbahn might not be called 'grand' as it doesn't have the elevation of The Franklin and South Manchester, or the expanse of Hochschwarzwald, but just like most celebrated pieces of art that are often not big in size, this display wins your heart through its elegance and simplicity. This layout is the proof that you do not need incredible trstles and viaducts or two lerge helix or 3 different levels to build a masterpiece. With zero elevation throughout the layout and just one 8 inch long girder bridge over Fulda river, the 'specs' might look ordinary, but the moment you step into the layout room, you would know that this place is special in every aspect of realism. Not just realism in the individual models or the trains - but every single element that you can lay your eyes upon - the buildings and their interior, the tiny little human figurines, the track, the ballast, the grass and vegetation, the trees, the signals (oh! you have to see those signals with your own eyes, no video or photo can do justice to them), the streets, the street lamps, the vehicles... everywhere you look the essence of excellence oozes like Serge Luten's perfume! But it doesn't end with the models, no. It continues to creating an atmosphere using state of the art lighting technology, smoke generators to create visibility context and atmospheric sound spekers to bring everything to life - all of which are orchastrated by Train Controller which doesn't require any human intervention. So you get the enjoy unlimited railfanning from dawn-to-dusk and then from dusk-to-dawn while enjoying you favorite drink without having to press a single button anywhere

I find this 4 years later. Does one still require the interface control with the newer Digitrx systems?
Absolutely Brilliant
WOW. What an awesome talent. Keep up the videos please.
Great tips and video manner !
Many thanks! ☺️🙏🏻

Thanks! Glad that this is helpful. ☺️

Fantastic artistic skills, insights, and tutorial video. * subscribed *
Thanks for the sub! I’m glad that you’re enjoying my work. Cheers! Kaustav
That was awesome! And the addition of failures just made it more interesting.
Thank you! I’m glad that you enjoyed this
The last ingredient is interesting one. I just started watching these miniture tree making, very few but I feel I have got you right. Great Video! ThanQ for sharing the tech.
You’re most welcome and I’m glad that I could help.
I used asparagus fern for a pine tree about 40 years ago. I only glued the sprigs into a balsa trunk. It is still on my layout. The asparagus sprigs were only painted and they have not deteriorated over the years.
I can't open Engine Driver pass the (Server Address and Port and then Connect). I tried every port and server! The DCC-EX is running and 192.168.4.1 Port=2560 seems OK. I’m running DCC-EX on Chrome and JMRI on android tablet. Help!
Need to go back and fix my trees now! Thanks for the excellent tutorial - Great job BTW. Looks real.
LOL! I’m glad that I could help! Thank you for your kind words.
Wow wow wow. What a amazing artwork. Greetings from Germany. 🌲👍
Thank you kindly! 🙏🏻
I would happily purchase one of these models, and skip building the actual layout.
LOL! It is fun, I can tell you! By the way if you’re using T Gauge, a layout will not be much bigger than this! 🤣
@amoljot
This is interesting. Always learning something new when things are properly done !
Thank you Luc! So nice to hear from you, hope you’re doing well. Would love to catch up. Cheers! Kaustav
Excellent, well done!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Enjoyed watching. Great work doing something you enjoy. looking forward to more projects.
Thank you very much! Unfortunately my personal modelling time is now very limited due to work, hope to get back to it someday. Glad that you enjoyed my work. Cheers! Kaustav
Fantastic! Thanks for the inspiration.
You’re most welcome! I’m glad that you found this inspiring. Cheers! Kaustav
Probably one of the most comprehensive tree making tutorials ever!
Thank you! I am glad that you found this helpful.
Absolutely the best scenery master I have seen on you tube.
Wow! Thank you for your kind words! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sir pls upload long and full diorama making video they are very good
Amazing
I am quite sure, that I will never try this. But it is so relaxing to watch and appreciate the labour of love.
Haha! I know the feeling! Thank you for your kind words.
Great work. Aplain background instead of paste jars and tools would make the viewing better for us viewers. In other words, please keep unnecessary clutter out of your camera shot. The shot while airbrushing is perfect.
Thank you for your suggestions, I’ll keep that in mind for future productions
Good job. Not trimming to perfection in itself is "perfection". Congratulations!
Thank you very much! Yes, I think realism is essentially representing imperfections perfectly!
W tutorial
this is some of the most professional diorama-making i have ever seen, everything is so detailed and must've taken so long, really impressive!
Thank you kindly! I am glad that you enjoyed my work. It did take long indeed, about 400 hours in total to make the layout and the video. But it was worth it! Cheers! Kaustav
I just stumbled upon this incredible video. Vikas Chander is clearly a genius, but what is very obvious after watching this video is his diligence, which is completely out of this world. Choosing a German railway to model is also very appropriate given how obsessive German's are about precision. The Lionel layouts in my neck of the world seemed incredible till I saw this. Thanks to Trains and Dioramas for bringing this to us. By the way where is this layout? Is it open to the public?
Thank you for your kind words. The layout is in Gurgaon. It is not in public display unfortunately.
Great work and instructions, thank you
Thank you! Glad that you found this helpful.
❤❤❤❤
Smashing.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Brother what is the reason behind of using modge podge before applying ballast in ho scale tracks? I am asking you because most of the video I have seen they have not used the modge podge before applying ballast in ho scale track, they directly applied the ballast to the ho scale track?
Mod Podge has two key benefits for Scenery work- it dilutes better than other white glues, and the matte variant that I use doesn’t leave any shine what so ever. Once dried you would never know that there’s glue in the ballast. Alternatively you can also use acrylic matte medium.
Thank you kindly for your comment. Unfortunately I don’t know Spanish at all. I will see if I can translate the script using some AI tools.
@@TrainsandDioramas ... me basta con lo que usted muestra. Es más que suficiente para poder entender ese paso a paso. Saludos y de nuevo gracias por todo lo que comparte...👍👍❤️❤️🇲🇽🇲🇽
While gluing your ballast which type of glue you have used?
Please check @2:35
Ahh man thank you, I picked up a couple of Kato RDCs from a train shop as a pair. The dummy one has something in its gears locking it up completely. That little part at the end saved my day. Much appreciated. Thanks for sharing this!
Glad that I could help. Happy Model Railroading!
i have a trusted mut too, lol and great at that protection from the evil stuff toys
We are the lucky ones, I tell ya!
hey man, thank you for making this video! I do have a little question. Do you think it is okay to use this method with trains that have rubber tractions?
Hey, you’re welcome! Yes, all this is applicable for models with traction tires. The only thing is that you need to be a little more gentle and careful with the wheels with rubber tires so that you don’t cause wear and tear. It might help to actually take off the tires from the wheels, clean carefully and then put them back in.
got it, thanks a lot!
Amazing
Thank you DJ, glad that you enjoyed my work. I watch your videos regularly, your content is great, especially your analysis of prototypes. Cheers! Kaustav
How about some more info on how you ended up supported the bikes? That's typically the hardest thing to figure out.
You need to add a scale moving truck crashing into that overhead barrier.
LOL! I know right?
sinceramente uno de los mejores , si no el mejor tutorial de arboles que he visto , te agradezco mucho tu trabajo
That is very kind of you, thank you! I am really glad that you found my work helpful. Cheers! Kaustav
Great video and great music. Thanks.
Thank you kindly! 🙏🏻
Very amazing work, I like this work. Please translate in Hindi and Marathi . 👍
Wow great tutorial! Clear and easy to understand.
Well done, looks great!
